Yuri Shimaoka
is a Japan born dancer, ballet teacher and Shiatsu practitioner based in Berlin.
Her interests stand on tactile deep listening, process of forming and therapeutic phenomena in subconscious reaction.
She has trained in dance drawing from different sources, from ballet school to studying Japanese martial arts Budo from master Akira Hino, to visiting The Forsythe Company and assisting Yoko Ando, former dancer in the company.
Since 2015 she is based in Berlin and has been collaborating with various artists in screen, VR, installation and dance.
As a guest ballet teacher, she has been giving ballet classes with a somatic approach in dance company, open dance studios and schools and experimenting drawing collective healing process in the space of daily practice.
She is one of the co-founders of a body workers collective "Considering network“, where the members experiment economical mutual support and practice co-regulation, care and giving/receiving in deeper sense.
